The camera man in the film trailer is filmed by the students this is an effect to make you feel like you’re actually at the party and not watching a set up film this has great effect and makes you feel involved in the film as events unfold, the fast paced scenes flash between events that happen during the party this shows how fast paced the party is and more importantly how fast paced the teenagers life’s are and how they are making the most of it with the “one in a life time party”. In one scene the camera focuses from the teenagers to a shop worker because she ear wigging in on the boys conversations and thinking trouble we can tell this by the facial expression.
Editing plays a huge part in the film and the trailer alike for example in the trailer the film is reviewed before we the audience even gets to see a clip of the film. This instantly puts a good vibe about the film into your mind before you have even see the trailer. The film is heavily edited and is not in chronological order, for example the huge fire created by a drug dealer after his hit happens very near to the end of the film at the end of the party that ends in disaster this sums up the stereotype of "mayhem-all involving teens" and what they get up to when they are under the influence of alcohol. There is also a clip in the film trailer where it shows the rude attitude of teenagers whilst in public with the quote “mind you own business old lady”.
Project X is located in a very ordinary upper class street in America, this could be anywhere in America and that’s the point, it could happen anywhere at any time. That’s the nature of teenagers when presented with the opportunity of a free house comes along. Obviously the film is exaggerated so it is more entertaining but the teenagers ambition remains. The set is a ordinary nice house that is trashed to show the reckless behavior of teenagers. The lighting throughout the set of the house is a dark blue this gives the sense of a party along with the music it sets the party atmosphere.
The sounds in the movie are mainly sound effects to emphasise what’s happening such as the sounds of a flame thrower and the sound of the Taser. There are also power noises for suspense as it shows fast paced small clips between reviews of what people have said about the film. The music in the trailer for the film is a very fast paced beat and base because this is what type of music most party loving young people dance and listen to at parties. The dialect of the characters is very suited to teenagers with the slang words such as “swing by” and “cool”.
