Zombieland Trailer

In the beginning of the Zombieland trailer it shows us the three main characters one older more experienced man and two younger students Columbus and Wichita. The camera rises from Tallahassee’s feet to his head where he confidently holds a gun this instantly shows his experience. Next the camera focuses on the main young character Columbus where it focuses straight onto his facial expression where he is very nervy shaking whilst holding his gun this emphasises younger peoples less confident nature compared to a more grown up “manly figure”. Lastly at 0.48 the camera is focused on the last character Wichita where once again there is little movement in the camera focuses on her facial expression this is more of a lost and intimidated look as she is unarmed.  The editing throughout the film is focused on comedy such as “kill of the week” this is to appeal to young people. Teenagers throughout the film are represented a lot differently than other films such as Project X for example at 1.23 in the trailer it shows Columbus throw his drink out of the window but keep a straight face so he doesn't look to be sensible. The older character Tallahassee is shown to be the reckless one drinking and shooting zombies not to survive but for fun. At 1.42 the trailer shows romance between teenagers this is typical of teenagers falling in love.

The film is set in Texas and he is trying to get home to his parents in Ohio, he survives by following 30 rules from the more experienced older man this shows how teenagers like to learn and how much they appreciate their families but they may not show it all the time. The clothing that the teenagers are wearing are unusually smart but this may be because they were at school and they didn't realise what they were getting themselves into. The music in the trailer is very fast paced this is because it symbolises the fast paced nature of teenagers life’s. This is also the genre of music teenagers very much like and listen to at parties and other events. The dialect of the young people throughout the film has a very strong accent and use a lot of slang words.

Inbetweeners poster

This is a  poster advertising the inbetweeners film, this uses one camera shot to show the inexperience of the "boys" this shows the ambition of the boys to become men on this “teenagers lads holiday” we can tell this from the background of the poster of clubs and bars that are blurred to make it look like they are moving fast. This suits how teenagers are always fast moving and growing up fast. The “boys” are not looking all directly at the camera this shows how and what they are thinking. The facial expressions show a lot about the characters such as Neil (far right) is looking aimlessly into the distance showing he is not the brightest character but he is always looking for a good time. Jay (middle right) has very confident smirk on his face meaning he is very confident like most 17 year olds, but he is wearing his old England shirt showing he still has the child within him but has the biggest ambition for the holiday. Simon (middle left) is not directly looking at the camera this is because he is in love and doesn't care about anything or anyone else; this also typifies teenagers falling in love for the first time. He is wearing very young and modest clothing as he isn't the most confident. Will (far left) is the smart one you can tell this by the clothing as he dresses before his age but he is the least confident and least experienced  and he doesn't know what he’s doing there with the rest of them, we can tell this from the facial expressions. The location where the film is set is on a clubstrip in Malia, the colours are exaggerated with editing to make the poster more appealing and to show the reckless behavior in a fast pased environment  where teenagers thrive.

How are young people presented in contemporary media?

The camera man in the film trailer is filmed by the students this is an effect to make you feel like you’re actually at the party and not watching a set up film this has great effect and makes you feel involved in the film as events unfold, the fast paced scenes flash between events that happen during the party this shows how fast paced the party is and more importantly how fast paced the teenagers life’s are and how they are making the most of it with the “one in a life time party”. In one scene the camera focuses from the teenagers to a shop worker because she ear wigging in on the boys conversations and thinking trouble we can tell this by the facial expression.

Editing plays a huge part in the film and the trailer alike for example in the trailer the film is reviewed before we the audience even gets to see a clip of the film. This instantly puts a good vibe about the film into your mind before you have even see the trailer. The film is heavily edited and is not in chronological order, for example the huge fire created by a drug dealer after his hit happens very near to the end of the film at the end of the party that ends in disaster this sums up the stereotype of "mayhem-all involving teens" and what they get up to when they are under the influence of alcohol. There is also a clip in the film trailer where it shows the rude attitude of teenagers whilst in public with the quote “mind you own business old lady”.

Project X is located in a very ordinary upper class street in America, this could be anywhere in America and that’s the point, it could happen anywhere at any time. That’s the nature of teenagers when presented with the opportunity of a free house comes along. Obviously the film is exaggerated so it is more entertaining but the teenagers ambition remains. The set is a ordinary nice house that is trashed to show the reckless behavior of teenagers. The lighting throughout the set of the house is a dark blue this gives the sense of a party along with the music it sets the party atmosphere.

The sounds in the movie are mainly sound effects to emphasise what’s happening such as the sounds of a flame thrower and the sound of the Taser. There are also power noises for suspense as it shows fast paced small clips between reviews of what people have said about the film. The music in the trailer for the film is a very fast paced beat and base because this is what type of music most party loving young people dance and listen to at parties. The dialect of the characters is very suited to teenagers with the slang words such as “swing by” and “cool”.
